Happy Earth Day!!!
Have you got anything "green" planned for today? Here are 10 simple/creative ideas to get you started on the path to eco-consciousness:
1. Don't pick paper or plastic, bring your own bag to the store with you. (Better yet! Create your own bag and take it everywhere. Need inspiration? Check out Sew & Go Totes, Tote-tally Fun to Paint, or Enviro-Totes to crochet for some great designs.) 2. Turn out the lights when you're not actually using them. (Candlelight can be a lot of fun!) 3. Don't leave the water running when you're brushing your teeth or rinsing the dinner dishes. 4. Avoid plastic water bottles—unless you plan to recycle them when you're done. (Looking for an unconventional way to keep your bottles out of the landfill? Take a look at Green Bling to find out how to turn your bottles into bangles!) 5. Thinking home decor? Don't buy brand new. Recycle something you've got into something even better. (Spend about an hour and a half watching the Refresh Remix Restyle dvd for ideas for giving new life to old stuff.) 6. Car Pool!!! 7. Get a good reusable coffee mug and actually use it. Just say no to to-go cups. 8. Plant a tree. 9. Refurbish your wardrobe at the touch of a button with the Style Remix dvd. It's all about "deconstructing" your clothes to "reconstruct" sew or no-sew one-of-a-kind pieces that are all you. 10. Plant a garden. Grow some herbs in a pot on the patio. (Cultivate some daylilies. They're so easy—you don't need a green thumb.)
Celebrate Earth Day not just on the 22nd—but everyday!!!
