Artful Christmas Words
This entry was posted on 12/23/2008 1:13 PM and is filed under uncategorized.
I do collage art, ATC cards, etc. And I use lots of words in my work, so I'm always on the look out for just the right ones…Here are a few Christmas-themed quotes that made me think or giggle:
• Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.
• And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. – Dr. Seuss
• One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day. Don't clean it up too quickly."
– Andy Rooney
• "At this festive season of the year, Mr. Scrooge," said the gentleman, taking up a pen, "it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time...We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices." – Charles Dickens (A Christmas Carol)
• Three wise women would have...asked directions, arrived on time, helped deliver the baby, cleaned the stable, made a casserole, brought practical gifts, and there would be peace on Earth.
• "Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall. We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space." – Dave Barry
• "Santa Claus has the right idea. Visit people once a year." – Victor Borg
Merry Christmas!
