I've been indulging my eco-guilt and investing in non-plastic, reusable tote bags. Almost every major store offers their own branded bags as soon as you walk in the door, and I'm collecting them. My tote bags go everywhere with me—work, grocery shopping, the library, the park—I can't survive without them. When someone comments on my bag or bags of the day, I casually say, "Oh, I'm trying to go green." But I must admit it, I was totally toting around my tote bags before tote bags were cool. The truth of the matter is simply that I'm a pack rat, and tote bags aid and abet my obsession. I just love tote bags!
What could be better than combining my tote bag fascination with my need to be creative? I've crocheted bags, sewn bags, fused plastic bags together to make new bags, made bags from placemats, and now I'm going to paint bags. A blank canvas bag makes the perfect canvas for self-expression. For inspiration, I've turned to the new Leisure Arts publication, Tote-ally Fun-to-Paint, from Kooler Design Studio.
With 13 designs that'll take you anywhere, this book is the go-to for green, veggies, floral, vacation, or holiday-themed bags to paint. Featuring bags from a variety of manufacturers, it also includes an Exclusively You reversible tote and handles from Leisure Arts that I really like.
Fun and creative, these bags are sure to garner more positive notice than some of those store branded totes I've been dragging around. Plus, I can brag that I'm helping save the planet—one tote at a time.

I also avoid buying bags that are made of plastic. I now have a collection of woven Pandan leaves, they are called Banig. I have 6 of them and all are present from my friends from Philippines. I love them so much! Reply to this
